Bean Group Global (BGG) collaborated with the Women’s Fund Leadership Institute for Political and Public Impact (LIPPI), a non-partisan initiative that provides women with the tools, mentor and confidence to become community leaders and elected officials.
Sharon Bean, President of BGG, led a workshop on International Women’s Economic Development, which discussed the frameworks that guide development efforts and case studies showing effective policy and community building efforts abroad and in the United States. The workshop also discussed the hurdles that women face worldwide, including evidence that show women, on average, avoid salary negotiations more than men. As an intervention, we led a personal elevator pitch training in which participants constructed a 30 second pitch about either themselves or an initiative they were passionate about. Many participants noted that this was their first times giving elevator pitches and was an important exercise in practicing how to market themselves and their projects.
